Florida Safety Belt Law Updated: Drivers Can Now Be Pulled Over For Failure To Wear A Safety Belt
Just a reminder that as of June 30, 2009, the Dori Slosberg and Katie Marchetti Safety Belt Law goes into effect. Under this law, Florida drivers may now be pulled over if they or a passenger are not wearing a safety belt. Prior to the introduction of the Dori Slosberg and Katie Marchetti Safety Belt Law, a police officer could only issue a traffic ticket for a seatbelt violation as a secondary ticket after pulling a driver over for an unrelated primary offense.
